Who we are
Playloot.ie is the online store of PlayLoot, a business name registered with the Companies Registration Office (Reg. No. 792542). Shreevats Shreevastav, trading as PlayLoot, is the data controller for personal data collected through this website ("we", "us"), 303 Beckett, The Cornerstone, Stillorgan, Dublin, A94 T8Y7, Ireland. What we collect and why
Orders
When you buy, we collect your name, email, phone, and delivery address to fulfil your order, send order updates, and meet our legal obligations (e.g. tax records). Legal basis: performance of a contract; legal obligation.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. See Stripe's privacy policy for details of their processing.
Selling your gear
When you submit a trade-in, we collect your contact details, item details and payout preference to value your item, arrange postage and pay you. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Contact messages
When you contact us we keep your message and contact details to reply and keep a record of correspondence. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
Analytics
With your consent, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site — which pages and products get attention, and where people get stuck — so we can improve it. Clarity captures usage metrics, aggregated heatmaps and anonymised session replays of interactions such as clicks, scrolls and mouse movement; it masks the content you type into forms. We do not use this to identify you personally and we don't run advertising cookies. Legal basis: consent. See Microsoft's privacy statement and Clarity cookie information.
Cookies & consent
We use a strictly necessary session cookie that powers your shopping cart and forms — this is always on and needs no consent. We also store a small pl_consent cookie to remember your cookie choice.
Only if you select Accept in our cookie banner do we load Microsoft Clarity, which then sets analytics cookies (_clck and _clsk). If you select Decline, no analytics cookies are set. We don't run advertising or third-party marketing cookies. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the pl_consent cookie in your browser, which brings the banner back.
Who we share data with
- Stripe — payment processing.
- DPD Ireland — name, address and phone for delivery, pickups and prepaid trade-in labels.
- Hostinger — our hosting provider (servers within the EU).
- Email provider — to send transactional email from info@playloot.ie.
- Microsoft (Clarity) — website analytics, only where you have consented. Microsoft may process this data outside the EU (e.g. the USA) under its standard contractual clauses.
We never sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
- Order and payment records: 7 years (Irish tax law).
- Trade-in submissions: 2 years after completion.
- Contact messages: up to 2 years.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; restriction of or objection to processing; and data portability. Email info@playloot.ie and we'll respond within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, payment is handled by Stripe, and access to order data is restricted to authorised staff.
